WSTDA will be introducing a completely new line of warning products at its upcoming Fall meeting. The meeting will be held October 19-21, 2010, in Ft. Worth, Texas.
WSTDA’s Legal Resource Committee has been working with human factors experts from Applied Safety and Ergonomics, Inc. for the past two years on this comprehensive warnings review and development project. WSTDA’s product safety bulletins and warning labels for web slings, roundslings and tie downs, have gone through a comprehensive review process with end-user focus groups, consultation by a human factors expert and legal review.
The new set of warnings products, which will replace the current editions, will be rolled out during WSTDA’s Fall meeting, October 20, at the Hilton Ft. Worth, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Each is designed to be either sewn to or included with the intended manufactured product. The product warning labels and safety bulletins will be available in English, Spanish and French, and will be available for sale through WSTDA following the meeting.
“It’s exciting to see this come to fruition, after years in the making,” according to Michael Gelskey, Sr., Lift-It Manufacturing, who chaired the Legal Resource Committee during this process and currently serves as President of WSTDA. “We finally have an industry-backed, scientifically-developed, legally-defensible set of warnings to distribute with our products. I’m pleased that WSTDA had the foresight to take the lead on this effort. The safety of sling and tie down users will be improved and, in the process, members in our industry will be subjected to fewer legal involvements.”
The Fall meeting will also feature technical committee meetings and a Mock Trial, which will enlighten and entertain. For more information about the WSTDA and its upcoming October 19-21 Fall meeting, contact WSTDA at 443-640-1070 or visit www.wstda.com
