Lankhorst Euronete Brasil (LEB), a subsidiary of WireCo® WorldGroup based in Queimados, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and specializing in the manufacturing of synthetic ropes for the offshore and maritime markets, has entered into a contract with SBM Offshore (SBM) to manufacture deep water mooring rope systems for their projects, FPSO Cidade de Maricá and FPSO Cidade de Saquarema. The approximate value of the contract is approximately USD $20 million. Both FPSO projects will be installed at the Lula field in the pre-salt region offshore Brasil.
This contract follows LEB’s previous success in agreeing to an approximately USD $80 million contract to supply Petrobras through 2015 for its projects.
Rui Faria, Managing Director of LEB, said, “We are honored to receive this order from SBM, which requires a fast track delivery. Our advanced product design, combined with our state of the art production technology, provides us an unmatched competitive edge for the benefit of our customers.”
The supply contract includes about 150,000 meters of Cabral 512®, Lankhorst’s polyester deep water mooring rope, with 1,200 tonnes of minimum breaking load.
Jose Gramaxo, Chief Commercial Officer of WireCo World Group, said, “We have become the market leader in supplying the important Brasilian offshore market with the world’s best deep water mooring synthetic ropes, and we see this as additional affirmation of our decision to establish production operations in Rio de Janeiro.
