Union Rope, a WireCo WorldGroup brand, has announced the development of an advanced Union Cut-Off Program that can calculate, log and track the service life of drill lines, which is now available on USB flash drives. In addition, the new system can be used in multiple languages and units of measure. As the need to continually find ways to save on costs, developing a wire rope cut-off program will ensure operators receive the maximum service life for drill lines, helping to save money and time.
Exclusively for Union drill line users, the USB format makes it easy to send, save and protect drill line performance information. The updated Cut-Off Program on USB will calculate the ton-miles for each operation and provide recommendations on when to cut and how much rope should be cut, while also allowing users to set goals and monitor results.
With the ability to use the Program in one of four languages, including English, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese, companies can easily share results with co-workers around the world. In addition, the program can take units of measure in ton-miles, tonne-kilometers or megajoules helping limit the risk of errors in calculations.
While visual inspection of wire rope is important, using only visual inspections for determining cuts can result in uneven wear, trouble with spooling and longer cuts. When used with required visual inspections, Union’s Cut-Off Program on USB can help provide the maximum service life for a drill line.
Compatible with both Windows and Apple operating systems, this high-tech update to Union’s 30-year-old program allows operators to replace paper notebooks and CD’s with the specially designed USB’s. Customers are encouraged to move towards the new Cut-Off Program to get the most out of their Union drill lines.
