From the Editor: Early in his career, Liftgear’s Andres Guevara recognized a critical gap: high-quality lifting equipment is only as reliable as the credentials that prove it is safe for use. This realization followed him from the field into distribution and later into manufacturing, shaping his view on safety and innovation. It set him on a mission: “What if a simple tap could give you not only digital certifications but also instant safety checks, digital inspections, and asset data on the fly?”

After years of development and extensive validation that vision has become reality. Liftgear now manufactures lifting equipment embedded with new CertFIDTM patent pending technology, converting conventional rigging products into Smart Assets with a digitally connected infrastructure capable of delivering instant certification, inspection data, and verifiable compliance with a single tap.
Here, he explains how the CertFID toolset will fulfill that mission.

The Vision: Never Lose Your Certs Again!
CertFID is an embedded technology that gives physical static equipment a secure digital identity. By linking each asset to a cloud-based certification and inspection record, CertFID provides instant access to compliance data and even visibility into an asset’s last recorded location. Transforming any type of static equipment into connected, traceable, and fully safety compliant Smart Assets.
The shortcomings of paper-based certifications are numerous: torn documents, lost binders, and exposure to the elements. Spreadsheets offer little improvement; they are easily altered and provide no reliable proof of data integrity. Even earlier RFID systems fell short, relying on expensive, cumbersome readers and proprietary ecosystems that made scaling operations difficult.
By contrast, any smartphone can now easily access CertFID data with a single tap, including the asset’s full certification history, without the need for specialized readers. Combined with durable, industrial-grade RFID tags designed to withstand harsh jobsite conditions, CertFID sets a new standard for asset management and compliance, giving end users in the field free access with no app downloads or subscriptions required. But it doesn’t end there…
Fiddle & Charm: AI-Driven Intelligence
With a single tap, CertFID provides live asset management through a durable RFID tag. But by leveraging artificial intelligence, it goes well beyond simple asset management.
- Fiddle (The AI Assistant): Fiddle enables users and operators to “interact” with their assets both at the desk and in the field. Rather than scanning through the entire history of a specific item, Fiddle turns months or years of compliance history into an instant conversation. A field user can ask plain-language questions like “when was this last inspected?”, “who signed off on it?”, or “has this asset ever failed an inspection?” instead of digging through the records. It makes the data – and the critical facts embedded in that data – quickly evident to anyone holding the phone, not just the person who entered it.
- Charm (Industrial Analytics): At the enterprise level, the Charm engine uses AI-powered machine learning to analyze inspection data across entire fleets. It identifies usage patterns, detects anomalies, and forecasts maintenance needs before they become critical failures. Where Fiddle answers questions about one asset, Charm surfaces trends and risks across all of them, showing management where important issues exist even before they have specifically explored the data to analyze those issues. The AI shows you the issues before you’ve even asked the questions!
Verifiable Integrity – The Maple Engine

A common factor in digital compliance is trust: “How do you know the certificate has not been pencil-whipped? (filled in without fully performing the check)” Unlike physical documents that can easily be altered, spreadsheets that can be quietly edited or databases that can be overwritten, CertFID is backed by the Maple Engine.
Think of the Maple Engine like a chain: every link depends on the ones before and after it. Every inspection record, certificate, and pre-use checklist is stamped with a unique digital fingerprint the moment it is created. If a single record is altered – such as backdating an inspection or deleting a failed result – the mathematical chain breaks in a way that is immediately detectable.
This provides auditors and owners with independent, verifiable proof that every record is exactly as it was when created. Where traditional digital systems rely on access controls and trust, Maple Engine provides something stronger: independent, verifiable proof that every record is exactly as it was when it was created. For auditors and asset owners, that means compliance you can verify – not just compliance you have to take someone else’s word for. While other asset management systems rely on conventional databases with no way to prove years of records have not been altered or modified, CertFID was built around Maple Engine from day one.
Traditional systems rely on access controls and trust that nobody with access edited the database. Maple Engine provides mathematical proof. This is not something you can bolt on after the fact – the entire platform’s architecture has to be built around it from day one, which is why it cannot be easily replicated.

Critically, with manufacturers, Maple Engine’s chain begins at the point of manufacture – the very first record in an asset’s life is cryptographically anchored, and every inspection, transfer, and certification that follows extends that same unbroken chain. By the time a sling reaches a job site, it already carries verifiable proof of its entire history from the factory floor forward.
Global Asset Network (GANet)
CertFID extends beyond individual organizations through the Global Asset Network (GANet), an open source, unified ecosystem designed to break down operational silos. Over the course of its service life, any piece of hardware might be passed between organizations, used or inspected by a third party, and eventually replaced. GANet serves to ensure that the digital assets associated with that item move just as easily.
- Seamless Transfers: Powered by Maple Engine using a secure, identity-based architecture for organizations and authorized personnel, asset ownership can now be transferred seamlessly from manufacturer to distributor to end user — and back again. By preserving a continuous, verifiable compliance record, this architecture removes the need for manual data re-entry and enables seamless interoperability across organizations, users, and other asset management platforms outside of CertFID.
- Collaborative Standards: GANet allows organizations to share inspection, asset type, and pre-use checklist templates, ensuring safety standards remain consistent across supply chains. It also supports secure access to digital assets for external third-party Inspectors and Auditors to conduct specific tasks.
- Integrated Marketplace: Users can source compliant equipment and specialized services directly within the platform from verified organizations and manufacturers, ensuring every transaction is backed by verifiable records within Maple Engine. By linking procurement activity to authenticated digital asset records, the platform creates a trusted commercial ecosystem where compliance, traceability, and commerce operate within a single connected infrastructure.

Use Case: Liftgear
The Global Asset Network (GANet) enables seamless transition of the data associated with each asset across organizations. In lifting operations, safety and traceability are non-negotiable. Slings, shackles, hooks, and other Liftgear equipment must be inspected regularly, certified, and documented in accordance with industry standards. Traditionally, this process has relied on paper certificates and manual logs, documents that can be misplaced, damaged in job sites, or separated from the equipment they represent. By embedding CertFID technology directly into Liftgear equipment, each asset carries its own secure, digital identity. Inspectors and managers can access certifications, inspection history, compliance records and location details instantly with a simple tap or scan, eliminating uncertainty and significantly reducing administrative friction.
At the same time, riggers in the field with a smartphone can read an asset’s certificate and inspection history with a simple tap, no app or download is necessary. The tool is built around the principle that critical asset data should always be accessible when and where it matters most – at the point of use.
Beyond compliance, smart Liftgear equipment transforms operational efficiency. Safety managers gain real-time visibility into asset status across multiple job sites, ensuring that only certified, inspection-ready equipment is in use. In high-risk lifting environments, this level of transparency enhances accountability and strengthens safety culture. By connecting physical equipment to a secure digital record, CertFID technology modernizes rigging management bringing clarity, speed, and confidence to every lift.

Paired with the Global Asset Network (GANet), CertFID enabled Liftgear Smart Equipment can be digitally transferred from manufacturer to distributor and ultimately to the end user, preserving a continuous, verifiable chain of custody throughout the asset’s lifecycle.
Use Case: Construction
While ideal for rigging, CertFID scales to handle the complexity of massive construction sites. A large project involves many asset classes—scaffolding, mobile equipment, power tools — each with unique inspection schedules and regulatory standards.
CertFID handles this complexity through fully configurable workflows. The same system that tracks crane certifications also manages fall protection expiration dates and forklift daily checks. This creates one platform and one dashboard for every asset class on site. From an enterprise standpoint, this visibility extends asset service life and dramatically reduces the risk of regulatory penalties or project shutdowns caused by compliance failures.
And again, safety compliance is a requirement, not an option. Anyone on the job site with a smartphone can access critical safety information for any tool they use that has CertFID data. The information is most readily available where it matters the most.
Smart Assets. Safer Operations.
CertFID represents a fundamental shift in how compliance is managed across industrial environments. By combining RFID accessibility, AI-driven insights, a Global Asset Network (GANet), and the verifiable integrity of the Maple Engine, CertFID removes friction and uncertainty. Asset management that once required binders, spreadsheets, and blind faith is now safer, instant, verifiable, and secure with CertFID. Elevating the value of every piece of equipment, mitigating the risk of failure, and reinforcing a safer, more accountable jobsite environment. Tap. Certify. Done!
