SpiderLineTM Provides Fall Protection on Chicago Bridge

Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, provided a fall protection solution for recent work on the O’hare Automated Transit System Bridge over I-90 in Chicago.

Rossi Contractors, Inc. along with several subcontractors required complete fall protection while widening the span of the bridge. Spider provided 600 feet of SpiderLineTM temporary horizontal lifeline systems, 300 feet on each side of the structure. In order to allow the simultaneous installation of track ties, running, power and control rails, Spider engineered custom brackets that positioned the independent systems away from the base and provided unobstructed space for the installation of the track components. Additionally, the standard pass- through feature of the SpiderLineTM stanchions enabled the workers to move freely about their workspace without disconnecting from the system or using Y-lanyards.

“The two 300-ft systems enabled the customer to deploy as many as forty workers at a time, maximizing their productivity on the project,” commented Jacob Bergstresser, Spider’s Chicago Sales Manager. “Our experts enhanced the standard SpiderLineTM system with customized features that met the customer’s needs and exceeded their expectations.”
