Bekaert announced recently a major extension of its Dramix® fibers portfolio and hosted an international group of journalists from specialized press channels at the company’s headquarters in Zwevegem, Belgium.

Dramix® fibers are a proven concept in concrete reinforcement since several decades. They create opportunities that enhance architectural freedom and have proven their power in pushing the edges of design equilibrium. Examples are the CCTV building in Beijing, China and the Oceanogràphic Parc in Valencia, Spain. Dramix® fibers also meet the ever increasing technical requirements in flooring, tunnels, mining, civil engineering, precast elements, foundations and concrete roads.

The existing product portfolio has been rebranded as the 3D series. The addition of new steel fibers in the 4D and 5D series takes concrete reinforcement to a next performance class: previously unknown levels of anchorage, tensile strength and ductility guarantee the best possible solution for an ever wider range of applications.

Dramix® is positive proof that advanced technology continues to make a difference. The European Inventor Award 2011 for Bekaert researcher Ann Lambrechts was testimony to Bekaert’s innovation drive and continued search for innovative solutions, also in traditional markets such as construction and infrastructure. So was the Preferred Supplier award conferred upon Bekaert by Schneider Electric, early July 2012, for continued innovation and quality in the supply of Dramix® Green steel fibers for precast electrical cabinets.

Bert De Graeve, CEO of Bekaert, opened the press conference which offered insight into the novelty and the advantages of the new product series. The day ended with a guided tour in the Bekaert showroom and in Bekaert’s main Technology Center.
