Green Pin® ROV Spring Release shackles cover a range from WLL 12 up to 150 tons. All sizes can be supplied directly from stock. Green Pin® ROV shackles have a specially designed quick release system that can be manipulated easily by a hydraulically operated ROV arm, without compromising safety. Developed specifically for sub-sea applications, these products overcome the limitations of solutions based on standard products. They can significantly reduce the time needed to disassemble shackles underwater.
The shackles are made of bow and pin alloy steel, Grade 8, quenched and tempered. Their safety factor is measured at MBL equals 5 x WLL. The shackles bodies are painted white, and their pins are painted green and have a temperatures range of -40 ̊C up to +200 ̊C. Additionally, at no extra charges this product can be supplied with a works certificate, 3.1 material certificate, manufacturer test certificate and/or EC Declaration of Conformity. The shackles are for in-line use only. This shackle is assembled with wire rope slings and monkey’s fist. For sizes WLL 42.5 – 150 t a special compression tool (sold separately) is required to assemble the shackle.
On Green Pin’s YouTube channel you can find a short demo movie that shows the assembly and release of this Spring Release shackle. The assembly is done by hand for smaller shackles, or with the aid of the compression tool. The two sizes of compression tools fitting 42.5/55/85 t and 120/150 t can be ordered as separate items.
