Permit Issued to Statoil for Deepwater-Drilling

The federal government on Friday issued a deepwater-drilling permit to Statoil, the 10th such permit granted since drilling activities were halted after last year’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The permit will allow Statoil to drill in the Logan prospect off the coast of Louisiana. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement also announced that it will no longer issue media announcements for such permitting approvals as the process becomes routine.
