The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Panhandle of Texas Chapter in Amarillo, Texas, have signed an alliance for construction worker’s safety.
The alliance, which will last for two years, means to share information and guidance, and provide access to training resources to protect employees’ safety and health. It will focus on reducing and preventing exposure to fall hazards, the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry; electrical hazards; and struck-by and caught-in-between hazards* from vehicles, cranes and other machinery.
“This alliance reflects our commitment to strengthen collaborative efforts to promote safety and health for construction workers,” said Elizabeth Linda Routh, OSHA’s area director in Lubbock. “Together, we will take an aggressive and positive approach to place workplace safety and health at the forefront of construction work every day for workers of all trades.”
Through its Alliance Program, OSHA works with businesses, trade associations, unions, consulates, professional organizations, faith and community-based organizations, and educational institutions to prevent workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses.
