New East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Named a Finalist for the 2015 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) announced today that the new 2.2-mile-long East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (East Span) has been named a finalist for the 2015 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Award for superior engineering achievement from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). TYLI, in a joint venture with Moffatt & Nichol, led the design of this seismically-resilient, landmark structure, which is the longest single-tower, self-anchored suspension span in the world and the world’s widest bridge.

The East Span project, which was led by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), working in conjunction with the State’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the California Transportation Commission, represents the largest public works project in California history.

TYLI will join its project partners on March 26, 2015 in Arlington, VA, where the winner of the 2015 ASCE OCEA award will be announced at ASCE’s annual Outstanding Projects And Leaders (OPAL) Gala. Established in 1960, the prestigious OCEA award honors the project that best illustrates superior civil engineering skills and represents a significant contribution to civil engineering progress and society.
