Modulift Promotes DNV GL Type Certification at SPE Offshore Europe

Modulift will further raise its profile among maritime professionals at SPE Offshore Europe in Aberdeen this week with a new DNV GL Type Certificate for spreader beams up to 1,000t. Modulift is the only company in the world able to boast such certification to this capacity, according to the below-the-hook equipment manufacturer.

Modulift, already a leading supplier to the offshore oil and gas sector, was among 63,000 professionals from over 100 countries when the doors opened at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre on September 8 for the four-day show.

DNV GL is the world’s leading classification society and a recognised advisor for the maritime industry. A DNV GL Type Certificate provides independent proof of performance and safety in accordance with international standards and systems, which is invaluable in demonstrating equipment capability to the industry.

DNV provides consistent, integrated services within technical and marine assurance and advisory, risk management and offshore classification, to enable safe, reliable and enhanced performance in projects and operations. It has deep technical and operational knowledge and extensive experience of crane and lifting projects in the oil and gas industry, working with operators, contractors, crane manufacturers and rig owners in addition to engineering and service companies.

Modulift Managing Director Sarah Spivey said, “Offshore Europe was an extremely important platform from which to promote the DNV GL Type certification and further elevate ourselves as the premium supplier of below-the-hook equipment to the offshore sector. The show is the largest exploration and production event outside North America, hence the importance for us to have not only a presence but a strong marketing message for existing and prospective maritime partners.”

SPE Offshore Europe 2015 was back-dropped by a programme to facilitate a younger audience to engage with the industry, which created further alignment between the event and the below-the-hook equipment manufacturer.

The theme, titled ‘How to Inspire the Next Generation’, was addressed in the event’s co-located conference where many of the issues recently presented by Spivey to the lifting industry were explored as they pertain to the marine sector.

She said, “The ‘Inspire’ theme resonated with me because, as representatives of the lifting industry, we must all try to do more to make the sector and the industries we serve more appealing, particularly to young engineers. The offshore oil and gas sector recognises these challenges and partaking in an event that championed the importance of attracting young people to such an extent was hugely rewarding.”
