The Board of Directors of the Material Handling Education Foundation Inc. (MHEFI) announces the re-election of Mr. George Prest of Unarco Material Handling, as Board President and Mr. Will Heddles of Tiffin Metal Products, as Board Vice President at their 2009 Annual Board of Directors Meeting in Amelia Island, Florida. The newest Director to be elected to the Board is Mr. Sprague Ackley of Intermec.
In addition to his new role with MHEFI, Ackley is a Technologist at Intermec. He has been with the company since 1980 in various technology roles and is currently working with RFID, bar code decoding and symbol quality measurement and is the named inventor on many US patents. In addition, he has led supported technical standards activities within various EPCglobal, AIM, and ISO SC31 committees for many years. An early recipient of AIM’s prestigious Dilling Award, he served as AIDC 100 Treasurer from 2002 through 2005. Sprague received a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and a Masters degree in Physics from SUNY Stonybrook.
The Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. was established in 1976 as an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting material handling education.
The Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to students pursuing an education in material handling. These scholarships are grouped into three types of funds: Company Funds, Named Scholarship Funds and Material Handling Industry Product Section/Trade Association Funds. Contributors can choose a particular fund or an individual scholarship. The affairs of the Foundation are administered at the offices of Material Handling Industry of America.
