Global technology leader in the manufacture of wire and fibre rope, Bridon, has agreed a number of major new vessel supply deals in Asia and the North Atlantic totalling more than £3m over the last 18-24 months.
Bridon has signed an ongoing stock supply agreement with RD Fishing Industries Inc, one of the Philippines’ largest tuna fishing companies. RD Fishing operate around 20 Tuna Purse Seine vessels and have recently taken delivery of two new ones – the Dolores 858 and 859 -that were built in Taiwan, both of which have been supplied with Bridon Dyform Purse Ropes (Dyform 6×19 IWRC).
Simon Dixon, sales manager, fishing and marine, said, “Over the last 18-24 months, Bridon has maintained its market share and increased in some key areas.
“RD Fishing had previously tried several other manufacturers and brands, but, after using Bridon Dyform on their first new vessel built in Taiwan, decided to make the switch to Bridon Dyform 6×19 IWRC following a substantial increase in performance.
“Following trials of Bridon’s Dyform Seapurse on these vessels, they found the product was far superior and performed better than other brands, they are now in the process of switching all of their vessels to Bridon Dyform Seapurse as their number one preferred choice.
“Bridon is one of only a handful of European companies that control the whole manufacturing process from start to finish, including producing the raw materials from rolled rod in our wire mill in Doncaster in the UK.
“Bridon has been visited by fleet managers, captains and business owners from South Africa, Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway among other countries. They’ve toured our wire mill and the ropery to see the process from start to finish and all have been very impressed.
“Customers who use Bridon Trawl Warps or Purse Wires know when they choose a Bridon product they are assured of the highest quality and performance, along with excellent after sales and technical advice and support, due to the distribution network we have throughout these regions holding the stock and offering onsite installation advice.
“In Norway over the last 18-24 months Bridon has supplied its Dyform Trawl Wire for many Norwegian new vessels including the Gadus Neptun, Gadus Poseidon, Gadus Nord, Atlantic Viking, Havstrand, Havbryn, Andenes Fisk 1, Volstad and Prestfjord.
“The current low oil prices this year seems to have created a perfect storm for many of our customers. With lower oil prices and increased selling prices of the raw material most companies are having a good year, and as a result many have re invested in improved trawl gear which of course includes trawl wire.”
