LEEA strengthens TEAM card scheme with new online refresher training course

LEEA has implemented a new online renewal system that will help ensure its TEAM card registration and identity scheme remains the most effective means of ensuring only properly qualified staff are able to work on overhead lifting equipment. When TEAM cards reach the end of their three year lifespan, holders must now undertake a specially designed, online refresher training course before a new one is issued.

Launched in 2009, TEAM cards are available only to employees of LEEA member companies that have passed the industry-recognised Diploma qualification for the test, examination and maintenance of overhead lifting equipment. In the UK, LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) requires that thorough examination of lifting equipment is undertaken by ‘competent’ workers. LEEA urges all employers to insist that staff undertaking such procedures are TEAM card holders.

“We are determined that the TEAM card remains a rigorous method of identifying properly qualified workers in the overhead lifting sector,” said Andrew Wright, learning and development manager for LEEA. “The new online renewal process ensures that holders are still engaged with LEEA’s CPD programme, and will provide a convenient opportunity to maintain and further enhance their knowledge.”
