Gunnebo Makes Huge Investment in New Manufacturing Plant

This year Gunnebo Industries open the gates to a brand new factory, located in Växjö, Sweden. The new unit has all manufacturing processes under one roof e.g. forging, heat treatment, machining, assembly, testing and painting. The new factory is equipped with an entirely new hardening and tempering facility and significant investments has also been made in fully automated machining and testing facilities.

Previously the forging- and components factories were separate units, located 500 km apart which meant that one product travelled more than 1 000 km before ending up at the central warehouse. The new factory is designed for a streamlined production process with shorter lead times and a more efficient Research & Development team.

It was in January 2013 that the decision was made to merge the two factories to a new and improved unit. The first machine was moved in September the same year and today the factory is fully operational. “The merge went very well and we had machines moved, installed and running at a very fast pace. The project has gone above expectation and we now have a plant we can be very proud of.” says Lennart Nilsson, VP of Operations.

This is a huge investment for Gunnebo Industries and it shows that their road ahead is rock-steady and well prepared to meet the future demands of the lifting and lashing industry.

Providing peace of mind

The production process at Gunnebo Industries is unique from several aspects. For instance, every individual manufactured product is proof loaded to 2.5 times the working load limit and visually inspected by competent personnel. This is a quality assurance routine that very few, if any other lifting equipment manufacturer, provide. But when the lives of personnel and the value of highly expensive goods are at stake, nothing but the best is good enough.

Gunnebo Industries manufacture in accordance with the major standards and equip all products with markings for full traceability, all the way back to the raw – material. This provides peace of mind for customer and end-user.
