Gunnebo Lifting Divests Subsidiary Emirate Safety

In April of this year Gunnebo Lifting divested its Dubai based subsidiary Emirate Safety Services LLC. The company was acquired 2007 as a step in developing Gunnebo Lifting’s market in the Middle East. The new owners are “Safety Services Group LTD” established in 1993, comprising 14 companies with offices and factories in UK, Middle East, Spain and India. The group was formed to tap the vast equipment demand and services of the Middle East, Africa and India and has become one of the fasting growing material handling companies in the region.

The primary reason for the divestment of Emirate Safety is that their core business – service and inspection, including a fire division – ventures too far from Gunnebo Lifting’s main strategy: “To achieve the position as a world leading manufacturer of lifting gear”. The synergies between Emirate Safety and the Safety Service Group are on the other hand substantial.

“Emirate Safety is a distribution and service company, and has a set-up that is similar to our normal customer base in other regions. We are happy that we have found this solution and look forward to developing the Middle East market with Emirate Safety as a key partner.” says Mattias Löfqvist, VP Sales, Gunnebo Lifting.
