WireCo WorldGroup, the world’s leader in synthetic rope & netting, wire rope and specialized assemblies, announces the opening of a brand new, state-of-the-art Research & Development facility at its Global Synthetics Lankhorst Euronete location in Maia, Portugal. The facility provides new opportunities for fundamental research and product development to support its Global Synthetics Lankhorst Euronete division that markets the brands Lankhorst®, Euronete®, Phillystran® and Oliveira®. This investment underscores the group’s commitment to further expand their # 1 position in synthetic rope and netting technology & manufacturing.
José Luis Gramaxo, WireCo’s Senior Vice-President of Global Synthetics Lankhorst Euronete, comments: “Over the last decades, Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group has constantly invested in Research & Development, which resulted in technological leadership in the global synthetic rope and netting industry. Recent examples of this include our Euro Line netting range, the award-winning A3 rope splice and the recent development of a bio-based and biodegradable yarn with great potential in some of our key markets”.
In addition to the new Research & Development facility, investments were recently made in pilot-scale equipment to strengthen the research capabilities into yarn extrusion. Furthermore, an investment program to further increase the testing capabilities for new developments in ropes and netting is underway.
