The Longview News-Journal recently printed an article detailing an economic development incentive being offered to The Crosby Group for the company to remain invested in the Longview, Texas location for the long-term. LEDCO (Longview Economic Development Commission) announced that Crosby/Lebus “is being offered $2 million by the city’s economic development arm to lure a capital investment of $45.1 million and keep about 400 full-time jobs in Longview.”
The article continues to state that “the company is considering an expansion in Longview through the acquisition of the former Dana (Corp.) facility in the Longview Business Park,” said Susan Gill, LEDCO executive director. “They will move from Fisher Road to the park and will have to renovate the building to meet the needs of new, updated equipment used in the forging process.”
She said the expansion is not a sure deal.
“It is our understanding that Longview is competing with two other locations in two different states,” Mazarakes-Gill said. “We hope this incentive package proves to the company officials that we want Crosby/Lebus to remain in Longview, invest in Longview and grow in Longview.”
The company produces steel forgings for wire rope and chain fittings and forged lifting devices for building, construction and drilling operations. Lebus Manufacturing began in Longview in the 1940s, later becoming a division of Oklahoma-based The Crosby Group. Crosby also has plants in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Canada, England and France.
As part of the incentive deal, Crosby would be required to maintain an average of 343 full-time employees in the Longview location.
