Over the last few months Crane Rental Corporation has relocated energy generating equipment manufactured by Siemens Energy to a natural gas clean energy power plant under construction in south Florida. Crane Rental loaded the components on a barge in Charleston, South Carolina, offloaded them at Port Everglades, Florida, and delivered them to the power plant site.
The components on the pictured shipment (one of six different loads) are a 675,000-pound generator, 338,000-pound K-turbine, and 655,000-pound gas turbine. Combined, the fourteen components Crane Rental Corporation moved for this project equal almost six million pounds.
To offload the barges, Crane Rental Corporation’s 110-ton capacity Grove 9000E hydraulic truck crane lifted mats and 55-foot-long barge ramps into place. Crane Rental’s skilled crew used hydraulic modular Goldhofer trailers to roll each component off the barge. Once on shore, the loads were transported to their final destination accompanied by police escorts.
