Cordage Institute Names Bill Putnam of Yale Cordage to Receive 2026 Gale Foster Award of Merit

The Cordage Institute is proud to announce that Bill Putnam of Yale Cordage will receive the 2026 Gale Foster Award of Merit.

Named in honor of the Cordage Institute’s esteemed former Technical Director, the Gale Foster Award of Merit recognizes individuals who have provided outstanding service to the organization and made significant long-term contributions to the rope and cordage industry.

Bill has dedicated decades to the industry and has been an active leader within the Cordage Institute, including serving as President from 2022–2024. Throughout his career with Yale Cordage, Bill has helped advance innovation, manufacturing excellence, and industry collaboration across the cordage community.
