Certified Slings & Supply, a third-generation family-owned business in Central Florida has a long history in the rigging, overhead lifting, load securement, and contractor supplies industry. The Detroit News recently featured a spotlight article on the many uses of one of the company’s most interesting products – Bubba Rope®. Bubba Rope is a tougher kind of recovery rope, developed from military specs for safely pulling off-road vehicles out of mud, sand or snow, and is the only snatch rope with a polymer coating.
The genesis of how Bubba Rope started is one of necessity.
“The company won a contract to supply slings so U.S. military helicopters could deliver supply pallets for operations in Iraq. But when such operations ended, the company found itself with a large supply of double-braided nylon rope and needed a way to use it. Bubba Rope is produced by dipping the double-braided nylon rope into a polymer base to produce a coating that extends longevity by protecting the rope from water, deterioration from exposure to ultraviolet (sun) light, and even abrasion from dirt or debris that gets into the braids of untreated rope. Each end of the rope is professionally spliced into an eye loop.”
