Carpenter Technology Corporation will once again be exhibiting at North America’s largest fastener show, the National Industrial Fastener and Mill Supply Expo (NIFS), taking place October 20-21, 2011 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, this year they will be bringing one of their technology partners with them; Joe Gibbs Racing.
On display at Carpenter booth #437 will be Joe Gibbs Racing’s #11 FedEx Toyota Camry display race car which is driven in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series by Denny Hamlin. NIFS attendees will be able to have their photo taken with the car and a representative from Joe Gibbs Racing will be on hand to share knowledge about the racing community.
Carpenter Technology’s specialty alloys, including powder metals and titanium, can be found at the race track with applications ranging from the car’s power train (valves, camshafts, valve springs, clutch springs) to the chassis (suspension springs, steering components, brake mounts). More than ten applications are currently made from Carpenter materials in various product forms with more under development.
“Carpenter’s materials can enhance a car’s performance by offering lighter weight components or extending the life of components, resulting in fewer failures and a higher number of finished races,” states Michael Wilkes, senior marketing manager for Carpenter. “Our partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing is a great example of how our materials expertise can assist design engineers with identifying alternative, potentially cost saving solutions while boosting performance.”
